Había una vez, mi familia

A theatrical and musical show for the whole family where not only pays tribute to Los Payasos de la Tele ,parents and their uncles, but also pays tribute to the genre of Clown and an era that marked the childhood of a generation of children who grew up in the 70s and 80s.

Grandma Eva is going to celebrate her birthday with her grandchildren, until a weather warning prevents them from coming. She is about to put everything prepared in her attic when, suddenly, a box comes to life and all the memories of her childhood appear: a small carousel, a music box, her toys, a Cinexin, an old television set where she used to watch her favorite programs. Suddenly the TV set turns on and the TV Clowns show appears. To the question “How are you?”, Eva, our grandmother, answers what we all have in our heads. The attic begins to transform until, in a magical space. Tv clowns and his troupe of crazy clowns will accompany Eva on a journey through a world of memories and dreams.

In the show we will go through all the subgenres and techniques characteristic of the world of clowning, such as gestural, textual, parody, circus and technique, and in all its formats, such as the complete classical entrance, musical numbers, textual humor, visual poetics, symbolism or magic. The great creators of the genre will be vindicated in Once Upon a Time: My Family.

DEJAME FLOTAR Bebo San Juan

“Déjame Flotar” came about during the recording of a project between La Mari and Emilio Aragón.

In one of the studio sessions, Emilio told La Mari that he had an idea, “a catchphrase” for Bebo San Juan’s next album.
It only took 15 seconds of the idea for La Mari to tell him that she wanted to participate in the song.
Ten days later, Emilio decided that this would be Bebo San Juan’s gift to La Mari to celebrate her 20 years in music.

B.S.O. with Emilio Aragón EPISODE 5 : Antonio Banderas

Synopsis

Emilio Aragón receives on the set of B.S.O. the great international star, Antonio Banderas.

The actor and director will review his personal and professional career through the songs of his life. He will remember his first steps in the USA, his artistic awakening with the theater, the sound of that train in which he left Malaga, to return being who he wanted to be, when he met Almodóvar, his experience as a director, that great night of the Oscars in 1994, which meant so much to him and the most recent Dolor y Gloria.

They will talk about all these topics and the songs that were important in each of those moments. Performing these songs will be Dani Martín, Coque Malla, Sharon Corr (The Corrs), Travis Birds and Vanesa Martin, accompanied by the dancing of Sara Baras.

In addition, Antonio is bringing the entire company of the Soho Theater in Malaga to perform the main theme of A Chorus Line and to accompany him in the theme Being Alive, which he performs himself, he is accompanied by the Pop Symphony of the Soho Theater.

With this gesture, Antonio wants to give value to so many theater and musical workers, who have been so affected in these times of pandemic, in which they have not been able to work.

Banderas will recount his terrible episode when he suffered a heart attack in 2017, which was a turning point for him and has made him return to his Malaga, where he has settled to carry out his life project, the Soho Theater and make his city a cultural Malaga.

As always, the finishing touch will be put by Bebo San Juan, this time performing with his guest, the theme I love you, Guajira, where Antonio dares to sing and improvise some verses.

B.S.O. with Emilio Aragón EPISODE 6 : Alaska

Synopsis.

Emilio Aragón dedicates this new installment of BSO to a unique woman, Alaska, with whom he has many things in common. They arrived in Spain at the same time, in 1973, and they are both sons of Cuban and Spanish parents.

With Alaska we want to reflect the passage of time, a career so fruitful, adapted to each era, without losing an iota of such a special personality. An artist capable of recycling herself, a restlessness to know beyond what was within her reach and how music influenced her from a very young age, in her native Mexico. A pioneer in a gray Spain, which she filled with color.

Alaska will review her life, inevitably marked by music. We will learn about her childhood in Mexico, her arrival in Madrid, her walks with her mother along the Gran Vía and the Madrid flea market that made her discover so many of the things that would later become her life. We will know how to listen to Bowie’s Heroes for the first time, taste a Cuban sandwich and what exactly La Movida madrileña meant.

In a recreation of her own living room, Alaska gives us the keys to her life and her songs, which will be interpreted by Amaral, Sole Giménez, Ariel Rot, David Summers, Andrea Motis, Leonor Watling and Emilio Aragón himself. In addition, the latter will once again play the role of Bebo San Juan to sing to Olvido, a Bolero de salón.

B.S.O. with Emilio Aragón EPISODE 7 : Dani Rovira

Synopsis.

Dani Rovira’s favorite movie is Big Fish and it has marked him in all aspects of his life. He considers that he has a minstrel spirit and that he is a storyteller, that he is a storyteller and hence the importance of this film for him. The BSO set thus becomes a Big Fish. With a fair in a clearing in a forest as in the film. With its circus characters, the tree with the wooden slats, the boots and an entrance to a very spectacular circus tent. All very magical and fantasy of Tim Burton. Emilio will talk with him about his career, his beginnings, his success, his illness, his philosophy of life and his commitment to helping others and especially animals.

The comedian tells how storytelling made him very happy and how the influence that Emilio Aragón himself, for whom he feels a deep admiration, Pepe Rubianes or Faemino y Cansado had on him, made him decide for comedy. “You would have to wear a white coat”, a girl once told him when he came out to see him act, and that’s when he understood that it was a very necessary profession. He explains how the muses come to him on stage and his best moments have come from improvising.

We will know how this comedian was discovered in the theater by a well-known casting director and got the role of his life in 8 apellidos vascos.

All these anecdotes of life will be told with Dani’s favorite songs as a common thread. From Pau Donés and Silvio Rodriguez to Triana, Manuel Carrasco or the French Noir Desír. And they will be interpreted by Manolo García, the group Elefantes, Conchita and Alba Molina.

In addition, we will see Dani singing by Miguel Ríos, the one his father likes so much and picking up the message of Bebo San Juan, when he sings “Sácale la lengua” referring to something we should all do at times like the ones we are living.

The BSO dedicated to the comedian is a hymn to life. There will be no lack of emotion, but without losing the humor, the main characteristic of two of our best comedians together. Emilio and Dani feel mutual admiration for each other and it shows in this very special dialogue.

B.S.O. with Emilio Aragón EPISODE 8 : Lolita

Synopsis

The program will be structured like the verses of the song Mediterráneo by Serrat, Lolita’s favorite song and with which she will delight us singing. They will deal with her childhood and what it is like to belong to a family saga of artists. What it means to be the daughter of Lola Flores and grow up under her skirts and her art. Her beginnings in singing, her first tours, her work as an actress, her passion for theater and life with the Flores FAMILY, with “normal” parents in her day to day life, her relationship with her siblings and her children. They will talk about their father, El Pescaílla, how he was the musician par excellence of the family and how the three brothers have drunk from his musical essence. His influence has led him to sing boleros as he sang them.

With Amor, amor he had the great success of his musical career, which began when he was a minor. He opened for Camilo Sesto and Miguel Bosé. She toured the whole of America and the Miami Sound Machine itself, with Gloria Estefan, heeled her.

The songs of heartbreak and in particular the boleros, are the ones she likes the most. We will know how important Serrat is for her and what other songs made her vibrate in her youth. How Sade reminds her of her sister Rosario or how her brother Antonio “musically introduced” her to many artists and a “noviete” to Cindy Lauper.

These two international artists will be versioned as part of Lolita’s soundtrack, along with Camarón, Armando Manzanero, Paco Ortega and Isabel Montero, Serrat or her own mother.

We will discover a new facet of Lolita, painting, and she will show it to us in a precious moment, while Rozalén sings, who, together with Anni B. Sweet, María Pelae, Alice Wonder, Fuel Fandango and Israel Fernández, will sing her favorite songs.

Lolita thanks Emilio for making a music program, so she can make MUSIC.

They will put the finishing touch with Bebo San Juan giving her “Canta hasta que te duela la garganta”, which talks about what we should all do, every day, sing and dance, “that makes your soul happy”. They will sing this song together and close with all the artists together around the piano singing and dancing in a very flamenco finale.

MILIKI’S MAGICAL LOFT

THE PLANET CACHIBU

Planet Cachibu is an exoplanet where the inhabitants of Earth throw their rubbish into a enormous canyon in a desperate attempt to dispose of the waste that has invaded their seas and oceans.

Miliki, whose stay on Earth has come to an end and is looking for a place to retire and rest, lands on the distant planet and is surprised to discover that it is inhabited by very strange and amusing beings: The Cachibus.

The tiny inhabitants are about to leave their little planet, which is drowning in the garbage from Earth, but Miliki convinces them that they can recycle it, treat organic waste to cultivate gardens, and reuse old objects to convert them into useful and fun things. Together, they’re going to make the planet a clean, green, and sustainable place.

But Miliki didn’t come alone. In addition to his faithful friend Dron Pepito, a homemade drone, he carries under his arm a bottonless suitcase full of music, magic, laughter, stories, and joy.

The Cachibús are delighted with the new arrival, and Miliki is also happy with his new friends, but there are some little people he misses a lot…

Miliki left his grandchildren Miliki Jr. and Susanita on Earth and misses the time he spent with them and the adventures they had together.

As luck would have it, Dron Pepito can connect with Dron José, the drone that he left with the children before starting his long journey. Communication between Earth and Planet Cachibu is constant and Miliki can continue to be close to his grandchildren, enjoy their adventures and share his day-to-day life with them, despite being thousands of miles away.

In Miliki’s Loft, there is much more.

But Miliki’s Loft isn’t just the adventures of Planet Cachibu. In addition to the adventures of Miliki, Susanita, Miliki Jr. and the Cachibus, the loft is full of songs, stories, and entertaining sections starring our characters.

Miliki’s old songs, and a couple of new ones, fill the loft with catchy melodies, fun compositions and rhythm.

The stories told by the unforgettable voice of Miliki transport listeners to worlds full of fantasy and incredible characters, where anything is possible.

– Susanita’s curiosity about a variety of topics tests the patience and wisdom of Raton Colorao over and over again.

– In Fun Words, Miliki teaches Miliki Jr. and Susanita how much fun playing with language can be.

– In the Music Loft, Miliki takes the children on a journey through the different rhythms and music of the world, teaching them the instruments and the great composers.

Captain Bebo takes us on exciting adventures to unimaginable places at the helm of his walnut-shell boat.

– And after so many emotions and adventures comes Respira, the time to relax and get ready for bed. We’ll need our strength for the next day.

Si estuvieras aquí de Bebo San Juan (Official Video)

Third single from the album La Vuelta al Mundo

I was born in Havana, and although I have traveled a lot and made the customs of other cultures my own, my home has been a perfect symbiosis between Cuba and Spain. As a child, Fabada coexisted perfectly with Congrí, guaracha with sevillanas, Beny Moré with Miguel de Molina. Whenever I listened to the Bárbaro del Ritmo, I always thought: that man must be a happy man. Those songs can only be born of happiness. If we link this idea to the adage that reminds us that it is better to go to bed without supper than to wake up in debt, these songs fulfill a promise to my mother Rita and Aruca. Here I deliver these songs, which are the fruit of Happiness.

Battle of the Giants Concert

BATTLE OF THE GIANTS is a project by Action Against Hunger, based on an original idea from Emilio Aragón and with the executive production of Caribe Estudio.

Emilio Aragón: “In the summer of 2015, I listened to Lucha de Gigantes on my earphones while riding my bike. Recently, I had heard on the radio the news of the exodus of Syrian refugees seeking refuge in Europe. Listening to Antonio (Vega), my old friend, the images of all those people struggling to survive in so many parts of the world made its way into my mind. I had to stop. Lucha de Gigantes was giving voice to each of the individual struggles of all those who suffer. I thought about what we could do from Action Against Hunger to add giants to this struggle that claims the lives of 8,500 children every day, and from there this project was born, which has grown a little bigger every day and, today, is a giant.”

Carlos Vega: “The day when Emilio told me about the project he wanted to carry out with the image and repertory of Antonio, I thought that, at last, something important and deserved would be undertaken, at the level of talent, emotion and generosity that Antonio gave to all of us who knew and valued him. Finally, his music and poetry could prosper in a bigger, universal territory, and, at the same time, continue helping the many of us who believe that the world can and must be better, if we get involved and act from the empathy with those who suffer, from that necessary hope in human beings. BATTLE OF GIANTS reaches us, his family, as a project of affection, recognition and generosity that we receive with pride and deep emotion, and we will do our best to support him.”

Manuel Sánchez-Montero: “War and violence are today the main cause of the struggle of 821 million giants against HUNGER. 122 of the 155 million children with chronic malnutrition live in countries of conflict. Today we have the means and the knowledge to be able to make HUNGER history. We need the support of Giants (citizens, companies, gov-ernments) in order to end hunger for good.”

On October 5, 2018, a charity concert against HUNGER was performed at the Teatro Real opera house in Madrid.

Bach to Cuba

SyNOPSIS

Emilio Aragón conducts the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra (performing the classical part) together with three Cuban percussionists and Alain Pérez on the double bass. The challenge is to integrate Afro-Cuban rhythms into a classical context such as the Brandenburg concerts, for which Alain Pérez replaces the Bach basso continuo, typical of the Baroque, with the Cuban tumbao bassoon, giving adequate space for percussion, such as the guaguancó, conga, danzón, contradanza, son, bolero… and which could feel comfortable around violins.

DIRECTOR’S REFLECTIONS

“Musical projects that fuse different styles often respond to different concerns and needs. For me, Bach to Cuba has meant the opportunity to bring my own ambition into play, nourished throughout all these years by the contrast of a classical musical formation of an academic and disciplinary nature, and by my roots of deep Caribbean origins.”

Snow White Ballet

Classical tradition of ballet based on the popular tale of the Grimm brothers and inspired by our most international dancer, Tamara Rojo.
“…dedicated to Tamara, who dances in my dreams…”
